9.7 thousand foreigners who had been living in Antalya on the residence permit have been granted with the work permit. 36.7 thousand foreigners were entitled with residence permit in 2011.
One of the most popular tourist and holiday towns of Antalya was hosting 36.7 thousand foreigners living in the city and now 9.7 thousand of these foreign residents have been granted with the residence permit.
Antalya Police Department Foreigner's Department granted 36,775 expats with residence permits. 9,771 of these expats have been granted with work permit. 7,309 of work permit holders will be working in the tourism industry.
In the first six months of this year, 17,026 thousand people received the residence permit and only 7,379 of them received the work permit. 5,680 of work permit holders are working in the tourism industry.
Prof. Dr. Gulay Toksoz form Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Labour Economics and Industry Relations, spoke to AA and stated that Turkey was emigrating however after 2000 people started coming into Turkey to live and work.
Toksoz stated that the immigration which Turkey receives help the economic growing too.
Toksoz added, "Knowledge and need of languages brings work force. There are not much staff to speak other countries' languages.
