» Istanbul prepares for grand tulip festival |

The Istanbul Municipality has been preparing for the 8th International Tulip Festival by planting around 13 million tulips in various parts of the city.
Municipal official Mehmet Ihsan simsek stated that they started to plant tulips in November 2012 and will finish planting in April 2013. The tulips are being planted in some popular parks of the city such as Emirgan Park, Gülhane Park, Büyük Çamlica and Fethipasa Park.

» Turkey plans to manufacture 1.1 million vehicles in 2013 |

Chairman of the Executive Board of the Association of Automotive Parts and Components Manufacturers (TAYSAD) Mehmet Dudaroglu said on Sunday that they planned to manufacture 1.1 million vehicles in 2013.
In a written statement released on Sunday, Dudaroglu also said that they planned to sell 810,000 of the vehicles manufactured within Turkey.

» TUBITAK develops information system for use in defense |

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) has developed an information system that will be used in defense as part of important steps it is taking to create a situation in which Turkey can rely more on domestic production of defense equipment than foreign sources.

Turkish President Abdullah Gul and visiting Jordan's King Abdullah II on Wednesday toured production facilities at Turkey's TUSAS Aerospace Industries, or TAI, in capital Ankara.
Clad in flight jackets, Gul and King Abdullah II -- a helicopter pilot himself -- inspected T-129 ATAK, Turkey's first national attack helicopter, and they hopped in the tandem cockpit of the aircraft. The two leaders also watched a demonstration flight of the helicopter.

Following a new arrangement in Turkish reciprocity law, 11,008 foreigners bought 10,687 real estate properties in Turkey in 9 months time.
According to information received from Turkey's Environment and Urbanization Ministry, even though it has been only 9 months since the law took effect, foreigners bought high number of real estates in Turkey.
